Arthrospira platensis

This is one of our special dog grooming products ingredients. Spirulina specially chosen because is a highly nutritious (yes it is edible) algae packed with essential fatty acids and anti-oxidants that are essential for maintaining healthy dog coats. It is also a natural antihistamine which means it is a great remedy for dog who suffer from allergies. Siprulina is so nutrient dense (vitamins A, B &E, minerals and over 50% protein) that it has earned its position as a powerhouse and as a vegan ingredient. There are infact research studies showing antimicrobial benefits (click to learn more) against many pathogens such as bacteria and fungi!

Simmondsia chinensis

Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) is a drought resistant plant. The high content of natural and rare long chain fatty acids that are remarkably similar to the natural oils produced by humans. It's unique nature means it is great for repairing dog coats that have been altered by conditions such as eczema or dermatitis. It also has proven anti-inflammatory effect with uses in skin conditions such as wound healing, skin ageing and infections. It is also one of our specially selected vegan dog grooming products ingredients. 

Daucus carota (L.) 

Carrot seed oils have been shown to repair skin damage, fight wrinkles, reduces age spots and promote a youthful complexion. Not all essential oils are safe for our dog coats and some have to be used in tiny concentrations. This oil used sparingly works wonders for dry, sensitive skin because it stimulates tissue regeneration, not to mention that it is totally vegan.

Ormensis multicaulis

Chamomile has been shown to be a promising candidate as an alternative to topical and oral antibiotics in wound healing and as an alternative to topical steroid creams for the relief of itching.

There a large number of studies showing clinical effectiveness (compared to invivo or invitro tests i.e. more of real life value) of chamomile in treating skin related issues in dogs, when compared to other similar medicinal plants. It has also been shown to relieve itching and provide pain relief. 

Vitellaria paradoxa

Shea butter is extracted from the nut of Vitellaria paradoxa a Shea tree. The butter is composed of bioactive components that are responsible for its medicinal properties. It is a powerful emollient with demonstrated anti-ageinng and anti-inflammatory properties, perfect for healing dog coats. 

Theobroma cacao (L.) (Malvaceae)

Cocoa BUTTER is not the same as cocoa or chocolate (theobromine) which is toxic to dogs (severity depending on the size of the dog, history of allergies, amount of chocolate they have been exposed to etc.). There is an important difference, it is infact an extract of fats with minute to no-levels of cocoa. 

Cocoa BUTTER is an intensive moisturiser and creates a barrier to lock in and prevent further moisture loss thereby maintaining skin elasticity. 

Lavandula angustifolia

Lavandula angustifolia  has been traditonally considered as a 'safe' oil for topical application. It has been shown to reduce anxiety and improve mood (anti-depressant). Inm addition to this it is thought to be a great alternative to antibiotics due to its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, pain relieving and anti-oxidant effects

Virgin Cocos nucifera (L.) (Arecaceae)

Virgin Coconut oil has been shown to have antibacterial, antifungal,antioxidant, antiviral , anti-inflammatory properties. It prevents hair/ fur damage, blocks out 20% of UV rays and repels bugs. This type of oil has 94% saturated fatty acids of which 62% are medium chain triglyderides (MCTs). It also contains calcium, iron, zinc, choline and vitamin E.  This is one of our key dog grooming products ingredients. Yes, it is also vegan!

MCT Fractionated Cocos nucifera (L.) (Arecaceae)

MCT or medium chain triglyceride coconut oils is made from virgin coconut oil, a unique component of solid coconut oil. The long chain fatty acids which keep the oil solid at room temperature have been removed to allow it to be easily asorbed deeper into dog skin layers. MCT oil has the similar benefits to virgin coconut oil but has more use where rapid, non-greasy absorption is required. 

Persea Gratissima 

This oil is an excellent source of linoleic acid which provides moisture with out weighing the coat down. It fortifies and protects the coat barrier. This fatty acid is not made by the body so it has to be consumed or applied to dog coats. Avocado oils is also rich in A, B, C, E and D vitamins and minerals such as magnesium and potassium. Research has shown that this oil increases collagen synthesis (repair and rejuvenation) and faster healing of wounds on dog coats or dog skin.

Calendula officinalis in Vitis Vinifera

Commonly used as a topical anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. Calendula helps soothe irritate pet skin, help accelerate healing of minor cuts, sunburn, eczema, rashes insect bites, sarcoptic mange and relieve pain.
